Batter Fried Button Mushroom

A slice of cake is perfect to be served with a scope of vanilla ice cream.

These batter fried mushrooms are coated in a seasoned flour batter and breadcrumbs and fried to crispy perfection. The ultimate snack, that is a crowd-pleaser.

Instructions

1.

Wash the mushroom and then pat dry using a kitchen paper towel.

2.

  • 40g plain flour
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp. Ralahami Black pepper
  • 2 tsp. cayenne pepper

In a mixing bowl, sift the plain flour and add an egg and the spices and beging mixing the ingredients. 

3.

Gradually add water to the dry ingredeints to create a batter with a liquidy texture and is not too runny. 

4. 

Add breadcrumbs to a large square or round plate. 

5.

Dip the mushrooms in the flour batter and coat well. 

6.

Coat the mushrooms in the breadcrumbs. 

7.

Heat oil in deep dryer or a deep wok.

*Drop a few breadcrumbs to the oil and if the sizzles, the oil is heated. 

8.

Place 4-5 mushrooms on a skimmer and carefully place them in the heated oil. 

9. 

Fry for 3-4 minutes, till golden brown in colour. 

10.

Unload the fried mushrooms onto the colander lined with kitchen paper towel. 

11.

Leave to cool for a few minutes and enjoy whilst warm.
